Dr. Mikala Rahn is the founder and president of Public Works, a non-profit educational consulting firm that works with federal, state and local government agencies, districts and schools to study and solve education systems challenges from pre-school through post-secondary education. Dr. Rahn has extensive experience in large-scale, statewide evaluations with expertise in the areas of accountability, curriculum, intervention programs, assessment, teacher retention and professional development. Dr. Rahn is also the founder and director of Learning Works Charter School, which serves 350 at-risk students in grades 7-12 who have withdrawn or are in danger of withdrawing from mainstream education and the Community Works Learning Center.Mikala earned her PhD in educational policy, MA in political science and MA in education administration from University of California at Berkeley, and a BA in human development communications from University of California, San Diego.
